Ledger Nano X Bluetooth Pairing Problems and How to Fix Them
The Ledger Nano X is the only Ledger hardware wallet with built-in Bluetooth. That wireless connection is convenient. It can also be the source of a specific, recurring pairing problem. Users report a pairing loop: the device connects, disconnects, and then spends minutes trying to connect again. This is a known issue with identifiable triggers.

What triggers the pairing loop
Three common triggers cause Bluetooth pairing failures on the Nano X:
Phone Bluetooth cache. The Bluetooth stack on your phone stores cached profiles. When that cache becomes corrupted or stale, the Nano X cannot establish a reliable connection. The phone might "see" the device but fail to complete the handshake.

Step 1: Forget the Device in Phone Settings
Go to your phone's Bluetooth settings. Find "Ledger Nano X" in the paired devices list. Tap the gear or info icon. Select "Forget This Device." Do not just disconnect. The cache entry persists until you forget it.
Restart your phone's Bluetooth. Wait 10 seconds. Attempt to pair again from the Ledger Live app. If the loop continues, move to Step 2.
Step 2: Check and Update Firmware
A device with outdated firmware cannot negotiate Bluetooth reliably. Open Ledger Live on your desktop (USB connection), go to "Manager," and allow the manager to connect over USB. Final resort: reinstall the nano X firmware
If none of the above works, a full firmware reinstall is necessary. Connect the Nano X over USB to your desktop. In Ledger Live Manager, you will see an option to "Uninstall" the firmware, which removes the operating system entirely. Then reinstall it fresh.
This process wipes nothing from your seed phrase, but have your recovery phrase accessible in case the device asks for it after reinstallation. Do not use a third-party tool to "fix" the Bluetooth. The firmware reinstall via Ledger Live is the only supported path.
Bluetooth Is a Convenience, Not a Necessity
If the procedure above still does not resolve the loop, stop trying. The Ledger Nano X functions fully over USB. You can sign transactions, manage apps, and use it with any desktop wallet over a cable. Bluetooth is optional.
